Have you ever seen the movie "The Money Pit", with Tom Hanks and Shelley Long?  This movie is hysterically funny and of course has a happily ever after ending.  Only in Hollywood folks! 


So many Long Beach buyers joke around about their fixer uppers but occasionally this can happen, and when it does there is nothing in life that could make you laugh.

 

I just finished reading a horror story, told by the buyer of a FSBO (for sale by owner).  If you are considering a purchase, you should read this story first.  While it is a little bit long, it is definately worth the read.  It may save you from a huge mistake.

What most people  never  realize is that this situation happens far more often then the FSBO ideal of a smooth  sale with no problems and all parties smiling at the end.


It's like people who run stop signs when they don't see a policeman.. people don't always do the right thing  when they don't think anyone is watching them..

So many people think they can sell their own home, not pay a commission and keep a larger portion of the proceeds for themselves. They do not 'get it'! We are NOT used car salespeople. We have extensive knowledge of the market, the process and the contracts. This is nothing to scoff at. Not understanding every paragraph in those contracts, what those paragraphs are capable of and how they can be manipulated to the benefit of a seller or a buyer is critical. Not understanding the current market trends and the finer nuances of pricing in today's market can not only cost them the sale, but can cost them a small fortune in lost purchase price while they chase the market down.
